The Energy Saving Certificate is an electronic document that ensures that, after an energy action, a new final energy saving has been achieved.

The ESC System, regulated by the RD36/2023, went first into effect in November 2023. This system, designed by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, is based on being able to sell the energy savings achieved due to any efficiency action to energy companies, which are obliged to save an annual amount of energy at a regulated price by the Government. This year’s maximum price was established at 182 €/MWh, even though it is being commercialized somewhere in-between 80 and 120 euros thus allowing all subjects in the chain to benefit.
